Consumer Affairs Office to Increase Telephone Hours

The Alexandria Consumer Affairs Office will be extending the hours of telephone availability from 8 am to 5 pm to 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. By increasing the window of opportunity to file and resolve complaints for both consumers and businesses within the City, the office will have a better chance to reach retailers and the citizens will have a better accessibility to reach the office.

The Office of Consumer Affairs mediates complaints between consumers and businesses for retail transactions that occur within the City. The office also provides information, advice, and consumer education for all citizens of the City, regardless of the location of the transaction.

Last year, the Office of Consumer Affairs fielded an average of 900 calls each month, mediated 400 complaints and recovered $128,000 of consumer-disputed funds. For more information, call 703.838.4350.
