The Alexandria Department of Human Services is recruiting three full-time AmeriCorps members to serve as community resource assistants in Child Welfare Services. AmeriCorps is a network of national service programs that engage more than 50,000 Americans each year in intensive service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health and the environment.

The community resource assistants will support social workers that provide specialized services to at-risk children and families. The community resource assistants will also be involved with special projects to increase public awareness of health care services for low-income, uninsured and under insured families and increase public awareness of the importance of child and adult immunizations.
The award for AmeriCorps members is made possible by the Alexandria Department of Human Services, the Virginia Community Corps Initiative and the Virginia Commission on National and Community Service and the Corporation on National Services.

AmeriCorps is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents aged 17 or older. Members serve over a 10-12 month period.

To learn more about AmeriCorps and the Alexandria community resource assistant positions, call Janice Pritchett, Alexandria Department of Human Services, 703.838.0956.
