The City of Alexandria is beginning phase 1 of its stream assessment project on Oct. 9. AMEC Earth and Environmental and Michael Baker Jr., Inc. conduct fieldwork to classify streams within the City limits. The field staff will assess the streams from 8 am to 6 pm within the next few weeks. The field staff will be clearly identified with an orange shirt and the words, “Alexandria Stream Team”.
Every effort will be made to minimize any inconvenience to residents. However, there may be instances where the field staff will need to enter property to access a stream, if it runs through or behind private property. The field staff will be on foot and there will be no vehicular access.

Any questions, comments, or concerns regarding the field staff or the stream assessment project, should be addressed to Kevin Shunk, Watershed Program Administrator, at 703.838.4334.
