City of Alexandria Sponsors Foster Care Fair

In an effort to encourage foster parenting, the City’s Department of Human Services has scheduled a Foster Care Fair for Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair will be at the Alexandria Department of Human Services, 2525 Mount Vernon Ave. inside the Cyphers’ conference room. Anyone interested in learning about becoming a foster parent or anyone interested in assisting with the department’s foster care program is invited to attend.

The fair is designed to provide specific and realistic information on becoming a foster parent, how to adopt a child, or how to volunteer and help children in foster care. Attendees will learn about the experiences of real foster parents and children. Social workers will also be available during the fair.
