The City of Alexandria will host a “Walk for the Future: Taking the Right Steps to College,” the eighth annual walkathon for Project Discovery at the Minnie Howard Ninth Grade Center, 3801 W. Braddock Rd., on Sept. 27. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. with suggested goals of $100 for adult walkers and $40 for student walkers.

The funds raised each year at the walkathon support the Project Discovery activities for more than 100 low income and/or first generation college bound T.C. Williams High School and Minnie Howard Ninth Grade Center students. Project Discovery teaches the skills and provides practical information students need to get accepted to and succeed in college.
