Taking Steps to Build Resilience

Citizens in the City of Alexandria, Falls Church, Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudoun are invited to take free workshops and counseling information from the Community Resilience Project of Northern Virginia to assist in mental preparedness for the anniversary of Sept. 11 and any future threats that may cause fear. To help build resilience against the threat of terrorism, workshops are being offered through Jan. 15.

By developing a mental preparedness plan, workshop attendees can learn effective coping strategies, identify ways others have coped with traumatic events in the past, and understand the best ways to use coping strategies to combat the psychological consequences of terrorism.

Families, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate in these workshops. For information, call toll free 1.866.400.2951, TTY: 703.228.4831, or visit www.communityresilience.com.
