Environmental Health Assessment Team
Begins Work in Alexandria

Alexandria community leaders, state and City agencies, and other community groups have formed an Environmental Health Assessment Team to identify the environmental factors that pose a threat to the health of Alexandria residents and to develop ways to measure the reduction of these conditions. The team is using the Protocol for Assessing Community Excellence in Environmental Health (PACE-EH) developed by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). The assessment will be conducted over the next 18 months.

As part of the assessment, the team will survey approximately 1,300 Alexandrians, or about 1 % of the City’s population, during August and September. Following the survey, the assessment team will form strategies to reduce the health threats and help public agencies and community groups set priorities for responding to health issues.

The public is encouraged to participate in the survey or to attend the Environmental Health Assessment meetings. For more information contact Project Coordinator Libby Busenlehner, at 703.838.4400 x258, or ebusenlehner@vdh.state.va.us .
