Birthday Celebration for Alexandria and USA

Residents and visitors of Alexandria, bring family, friends, and a picnic to the City of Alexandria birthday celebration for both the City and the United States of America on July 12 from 6 to 10:30 pm at Oronoco Bay Park, 701 N. Lee St.

The City celebrates the 254th birthday of Alexandria and the 227th birthday of the USA with an old-fashioned fireworks party. Highlights include music by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and the Alexandria Singers, and the City Council’s ceremonial cutting of the Alexandria birthday cake. Presentation of the Park and Recreation Commission’s awards will also take place. Refreshments and novelties will be on sale at the event, and local exhibits will be on display.

The audience area is grass seating. Picnics may be brought to the park, but food and beverage sales are also available. No grills are allowed at the event. As a courtesy to others, please leave pets at home.
