Alexandria Police Investigate Sexual Assault;
Two Suspects Sought for Early Morning Attack

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the sexual assault of a 19-year-old Washington, D.C., woman. The victim was assaulted by two unknown suspects between 2:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. today (Saturday) in the 300 block of South Whiting Street.

The victim was walking to a friend’s home when she was grabbed by the suspects, both black males in their early 20s. They forced her across the street and into a lot behind businesses on the west side of the street. She was sexually and physically assaulted, and sustained minor injuries, including bruises, during the attack. No weapon was displayed.

After the assault, the suspects fled from the area on foot and the victim was able to seek assistance. A passerby contacted police at approximately 7:50 a.m., and police and medics responded to the scene. The victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she was treated and released.

One suspect is described as approximately 6-feet, 175 pounds and wearing dark clothing. The second suspect is described as approximately 5-feet 8-inches and 160 pounds.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Section are following up on this case. Anyone with information is asked to call Alexandria police at (703) 838-4444.
