Alexandria’s Pools Open The summer is coming, bringing warmer temperatures and clearer skies. One of the best ways for Alexandrians to relax and cool-down is to visit one of the City’s pools. The City has two large pools that open weekends and holidays starting May 24, full-time June 21- Sept. 1. Old Town Pool, 1609 Cameron St. includes a 25 yard pool with a diving well and two large, floating reptile features to play on. It includes a training pool that has a depth range of one to three feet. The Warwick Pool, 3301 Landover St. includes a 25 yard pool with a diving well and a separate wading pool for children up to 42 inches in height. Admission into the Old Town and Warwick pools is free for children one to three, free for ages four to six when with a paying adult, $1 for ages seven to seventeen, $2 for ages 18 to 59, $ 1 for ages 60 +, and $3 for any nonresident when with a paying resident. Alexandria also has four smaller, Neighborhood Pools for children to attend throughout the summer. Each Neighborhood Pool has a shallow water depth of three to five feet. The pools are small, accommodating a maximum of 45 guest. Because of the limited size, they are restricted to Alexandria residents 13 years of age or younger. Parents are welcome to accompany their children. The four Neighborhood Pools are the Nannie J. Lee Pool, 1108 Jefferson St., the Charles Houston Pool, 901 Wythe St., the N. Colasanto Pool, 2704 Mt. Vernon Ave., and the John Ewald Pool, 4500 Duke St. Houston, Lee, and Colasanto pools open Monday through Friday, June 23 to August 15. Ewald Pool opens Tuesday through Saturday, June 24 to August 16. For more information on the City’s outdoor pools, call 703.519.2160 ext.18. # # # |
