A Series of Old Town Burglaries Occur; Police Seek Public’s Help
Since January of this year, 25 commercial businesses throughout the downtown area of the City have been burglarized. Alexandria police detectives have captured a suspect on video tape committing at least one of these crimes and they need your help in identifying the suspect.
During the early evening hours on May 11, at approximately 8:28 p.m., the suspect forced entry into a downtown business through the front door and stole money. Detectives and midnight patrol officers have been working overtime conducting various covert operations, canvassing different businesses and working closely with our crime analysis unit in hopes of making an arrest. Although police have not yet caught the suspect, they have now captured him on video tape and need assistance in identifying him.
Anyone knowing the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at (703) 838-4711 or 4712. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crime Solvers for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest and indictment. Alexandria Crime Solvers can be reached at (703) 838-4858.
Note: Photos of the suspect are available by e-mail and have been posted on the City’s web site. Video tapes are also available for media use and can be obtained by calling the Public Information Office at (703) 838-4636.
