City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services
For Monday, May 26 in Observance of Memorial Day

City government offices will be closed on May 26, in observance of Memorial Day.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, May 24, and Monday, May 26.

The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on May 26. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington St. and Route 1 will be lifted on May 26.

City Schools will be open on May 26 to make up for school days lost over the winter.

DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on May 26.

City Recreation Centers will be closed on May 26 except for Chinquapin Recreation Center, which will open from 6 am to 6 pm. Two of the City’s outdoor swimming pools will be open Memorial Day weekend. Old Town will be open noon to 7 pm and Warwick will be open 11 am to 6 pm.

City libraries will be closed on May 26.

Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on May 26. All collection services will be delayed by one day the week of May 26. For example, residential trash and recycling services regularly scheduled for May 27, will occur on May 28.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on May 26.
