Alexandria Police Search For Escaped Juvenile Suspect

Today, at 4:47 p.m., Alexandria police were called to the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Home at 200 South Whiting Street for the report of an escaped suspect. Emmanuel Taboko, a 17-year-old from Arlington, escaped from the facility after forcing his way through multiple steel doors inside the secure facility. He then climbed over a barbed wire fence and fled. Officers, with the assistance of K-9 units and a Fairfax County police helicopter, are searching the area, including the Edsall Road corridor.

Taboko is described as a dark-complected black male, 6'3", 210 pounds, who was last seen wearing dark-colored shorts. He has a heavy West African accent but speaks English.

While Taboko is not believed to be armed, he may pose a danger to the community. He is being treated for a mental illness. Taboko was being held at the detention facility following his arrest on April 14 for the attempted sexual assault of a woman in Arlington.

Anyone who believes they see Taboko should call 911.
