Police responded to that location after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria. NCMEC had received a call from a citizen who had seen all three subjects as they waited for a Metro bus.
Ms. Quinn and Jacinda were in good physical condition and returned to Alexandria with a detective. Child Protective Services responded to Alexandria police headquarters and took custody of Jacinda.
Ms. Quinn was first reported missing to Alexandria police three weeks ago when she left a women’s shelter with her baby, but without the baby’s formula, diapers and other supplies. Concerned for Ms. Quinn’s well-being, shelter staff contacted police. In early April, Ms. Quinn had taken Jacinda to the Alexandria Hospital for treatment of bruises. She told investigators that Lancaster had assaulted Jacinda. A criminal investigation into Jacinda’s injuries continues.
Alexandria police gratefully acknowledge the cooperation of the public, news media, NCMEC, Metropolitan police, Metro Transit police and Metro bus operators for their efforts in the safe recovery of all three subjects.
