Alexandria Police Learn Identity of "Sofina"
After Injured Woman Regains Consciousness

Alexandria detectives now know the identity of "Sofina," a woman found critically injured three days ago. The woman, who had lost consciousness before police could interview her, is now conscious and able to speak with investigators.

Detectives are still trying to determine how she was injured when she was found on Sunday night (April 13) in the 400 block of Wilkes Street. Her identity is not being released, but she is 65 years old and lives in south Old Town. She remains in the Intensive Care Unit at Fairfax Hospital and her condition is improving.

Detectives appreciate the assistance of the media and other police departments in their efforts to identify "Sofina."
