Alexandria’s Simpson Field Turns 50

Come and be a part of the great American tradition. Celebrate the opening of a new baseball season. This year highlights the 50th year of youth baseball at the City’s Simpson Field, located on the east side of Alexandria at the 500 block of Monroe Ave., which opened in 1953.

The Alexandria Little League invites everyone to participate in the Opening Day parade and ceremonies celebrating this milestone on Sat., April 5 at noon, prior to the first game of the 2003 season.

Simpson Stadium is named after the family of Eugene Simpson, who built the stadium 50 years ago. Currently, the company of Simpson Construction/Simpson Development is operated by his nephews.

For more information, call Alexandria’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities at 703.838.4842.
