Alexandria Police Investigate a Suspicious Death

Late this afternoon at approximately 5:00 p.m., Alexandria police responded to the Aspen House, at 3201 Landover Street, to check on the welfare of a resident. Upon entering the apartment, police discovered the victim, a 49-year-old female, dead from an apparent gun shot wound.

Investigation revealed that the victim did not report to work today and her employer notified a family member. Concerned for her well being, management staff at the Aspen House and police were also notified and responded to the apartment where the deceased victim was found.

This investigation remains open and the exact cause of death will be determined by an autopsy. The name of the victim will not be released at this time.
