Found Dead Along Shoreline
The Alexandria Police Department was contacted yesterday afternoon by the Charles County Sheriff’s Department after a man was found washed ashore. Alexandria police were able to positively identify the man as Cyril K. During, Jr., a 26-year-old African-American male who was reported missing from Alexandria since January 8.
Mr. During left his home in Alexandria on the morning of January 8 in route to work however, he never arrived. Mr. During’s employer contacted his family who in return contacted police to report him missing. Mr. During’s vehicle was recovered by Maryland State Police on Friday, January 10, near the intersection of I-295 and the Beltway just prior to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. There were no signs of foul play. Police searched the waterfront with the assistance of Prince George’s County Police helicopter and K-9 units, and the Metropolitan Police Harbor and D.C. Fire patrols, but did not locate Mr. During.
Yesterday, a citizen walking along the waterfront in Charles County Maryland, near the Old Marshall Hall Amusement Park, discovered the body. There does not appear to be any signs of foul play. The body was removed and an autopsy will be performed by the Maryland State Medical Examiners Office in Baltimore, Maryland.
