City Offers TeensWork! Youth Employment Program Alexandria youth no longer have to rely on money from babysitting and lawn mowing. TeensWork!, the Alexandria Youth Employment Program at JobLink helps youth ages 14 to 21 brush up their employment skills and find a job. A youth employment counselor takes youth step-by-step through what they need to know in order to be better job seekers. They help teens and young adults develop more marketable skills, find higher paying jobs, build a resume, and develop reliability and independence. The Alexandria Youth Employment Program offers job placement, career counseling, job fairs, transportation, information and referral. JobLink offers a lot of equipment, such as voice mail, fax machine, photocopiers, and computers, all free of charge. JobLink also offers employment preparation workshops and GED preparation/testing. Last year, TeensWork! placed 242 young people in jobs within Alexandria and the Washington Metropolitan area. Forty-four government agencies and non-profit organizations as well as 91 private employers partnered with TeensWork! to put our youth to work. Employers who have recently hired teens include the U.S. Park Police, Holiday Inn, Northern Virginia Beverage Co., Old Navy, United Parcel Service, and the Fairfax County Public Schools. TeensWork! will be holding a Youth Job Fair on May 15 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Landmark Mall. JobLink is located at 2026 Eisenhower Ave., Suite 140 and is open Monday and Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and the second Saturday of each month from 10 am to 2 pm.
