Adult Day Services Center Available for Alexandrians

Do you know an older Alexandria resident who should not remain alone during the day? The Alexandria Adult Day Services Center offers a warm and comfortable setting for older Alexandrians who cannot or should not remain alone during the daytime.

The program benefits older adults who need a structured therapeutic environment because of physical disabilities, social isolation or memory loss. Caregivers who need respite will also find the program helpful.
The Adult Day Services Center team is trained to meet the needs of older adults and includes administrative staff, therapeutic recreation staff, a registered nurse and volunteers. The center offers therapeutic recreation such as a daily exercise program, memory stimulation, adapted sports, cultural activities, holiday and birthday celebrations, trips and crafts.

The professional staff assesses each person’s need and develops an individualized therapeutic program. These plans are re-evaluated regularly. The center also provides nursing services such as daily health supervision, medication administration, blood pressure monitoring, weight monitoring and personal hygiene.

City of Alexandria residents may come to the Center if they are age 55 and older and able to attend at least 2 days per week. A number of payment options and transportation are available if needed.

The Alexandria Adult Day Services Center is open Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and is located at 1108 Jefferson St. in the Lee Center on the southern edge of Old Town.
