PROGRAMS SCHEDULED TO HONOR
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.

The public is invited to participate in programs in Alexandria to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. The 30th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Memorial Program is scheduled for Jan. 15, 7:30 pm at the First Christian Church, 2723 King St. Dr. Johnnie Abram, pastor, Harvest Assembly Baptist Church, will be the gust speaker. Music will be provided by Mosaic Harmony. The program is sponsored by the City of Alexandria in cooperation with local religious, civic and social organizations.

Other activities scheduled are:

Jan. 12, 7:30 pm: A Salute to the Life of Dr. King at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1401 Duke St. Guest speaker is Rev. Lee Earl. The event is sponsored by the Baptist Ministers’ Conference.

Jan. 17, 7:30 pm: A Youth Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King at the Departmental Progressive Club, 411 Gibbon St. The event is sponsored by the Departmental Progressive Club.

Jan. 20, 1-3 pm: Martin Luther King Media Presentation and Exhibit at the Black History Resource Center, 638 N. Alfred St. Co-sponsors are the Alexandria Society for the Preservation of Black Heritage and the Alumni Association of Parker-Gray High School.
