City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of
Services for the Thanksgiving Holiday on
Thurs., Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29

City government offices will be closed on Thurs. Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 28, Fri., Nov. 29, and Sat., Nov. 30.

City Schools will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29.

There will be regular residential trash and recycling collection on Thurs., Nov. 28.

All City of Alexandria recreation centers will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 28. On Fri., Nov. 29, the Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, William Ramsey, Mount Vernon, and Nannie J. Lee recreation centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm, the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will also be open from 6 am to 6 pm. The Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and all part-time recreation centers will be closed on Fri., Nov. 29.

In addition, all city libraries will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29.

There will be no DASH bus service on Thurs., Nov. 28, but DASH will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Fri., Nov. 29.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Thurs., Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Thurs., Nov.28, and Fri., Nov. 29.

State offices in Alexandria, including Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department will be closed on Thurs., Nov. 28, and Fri., Nov. 29.

On Fri., Nov. 29, the City of Alexandria will hold it’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at 7 pm on Market Square, 301 King St. For additional information on the Tree Lighting Ceremony, call 703-883-4686.
