City of Alexandria Announces
Free Parking on Evenings and Weekends

In an effort to encourage residents and visitors to shop and dine in Alexandria throughout the extended holiday season, the City of Alexandria announced today that beginning Oct. 21, parking at all City operated parking meters, garages and parking lots throughout Alexandria will be free after 5 pm on weekdays and free all day on Saturdays and Sundays. These changes will be in effect through Jan. 5, 2003.

The cost for parking before 5 pm on weekdays at City operated parking meters, garages and parking lots in Alexandria remains the same and the changes do not apply to private parking facilities in the City. In addition, parking restrictions on Alexandria’s non-metered streets remain the same.
