City of Alexandria Announces Holiday Schedule for
Monday, October 14, Columbus Day

Alexandria City government administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14, in observance of Columbus Day.

The Treasury and Revenue Division of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Monday, Oct. 14.

Residential trash collection services scheduled for Monday, Oct. 14, will occur on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Collection services regularly scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 15, will occur that day and into Wednesday, Oct. 16. There will be no recycling services on Monday, Oct. 14. Recycling will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

In addition, all City libraries will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14.

On Monday, Oct. 14, Patrick Henry Center, Charles Barrett Center, and all part-time recreation centers will be closed. Charles Houston, William Ramsey, Cora Kelly, Nannie Lee, and Mt. Vernon centers will be open from 9 am to 6 pm. Chingquapin Park Recreation Center will operate from 6 am to 6 pm.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the City will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, Oct. 14. HOV lane restrictions on Route 1 and Washington St. will be lifted on Monday, Oct. 14.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Oct. 14.

Alexandria City Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14.

State offices located in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Monday, Oct. 14.
