Alexandria Police Investigate a Sudden Death;
Man Found Floating in Creek Bed


The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the sudden death of a man found floating in a creek bed this afternoon at approximately 4:45 p.m. The creek is located just north of the Potomac Yards Shopping Center, in the 3900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

A witness observed the body and called security at the shopping center who then contacted police. The victim is believed to be a white Hispanic male. The medical examiner was contacted and the body was removed from the creek. There were no visible signs of trauma and the exact cause of death is unknown at this time. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

Alexandria detectives remain on the scene and will continue their investigation throughout the night.
