City of Alexandria to Commemorate
Events of September 11th With Ceremony

The City of Alexandria will honor America’s resilient spirit with a special ceremony commemorating the events of September 11, 2001. The event will be held on September 10, from 6 to 7 pm in Alexandria’s Market Square, 301 King St., and is open to the public. The ceremony is presented in cooperation with American Legion Post 24.

The program will include a keynote address by Gov. Mark Warner as well as special remarks by Sen. John Warner, Congressman James Moran, and Mayor Kerry Donley. Music will be provided by the TC Williams High School Choir, the Alexandria Harmonizers, and Jacqueline Jones.

The event is designed to be a poignant remembrance of the innocent victims of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, as well as a demonstration of appreciation for the fire fighters, police officers and other emergency personnel who were the first responders to last years attack on the Pentagon.

For more information on this event, call the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Activities at 703.883.4686.
