City of Alexandria Announces Holiday Schedule
for Thursday, July 4, Independence Day

Alexandria City government administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day.

Residential trash collection services scheduled for Thursday, July 4, will occur on Friday, July 5. Collection services regularly scheduled for Friday, July 5 will occur that day and into Saturday, July 6. There will be no recycling service on Thursday, July 4. Recycling will resume on Monday, July 8.

City libraries will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

On Thursday, July 4, all recreation centers will be closed, except for Chinquapin Park Recreation Center, which will be open from 6 am to 3 pm. Alexandria’s two large public pools, Old Town Pool and Warwick pool, will be open from 12 noon to 7 pm. All small public pools will be open from 12 noon to 6 pm.

Public meter parking will be free on Thursday, July 4, and HOV lane restrictions will be lifted.

DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, July 4.

State offices located in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5.
