Alexandria Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Sexual Assault

Alexandria police are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect who sexually assaulted a girl last night. Detectives will be distributing the sketch in the community this afternoon.

On Tuesday, June 11, a 12-year-old female City resident, was sexually assaulted by an unknown man in the 4800 block of Kenmore Avenue. Between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. , the victim was returning to her unlocked apartment from a nearby laundry room. When she entered her home, she discovered the suspect waiting inside. He produced a knife and then sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the suspect fled on foot and the victim went to a neighbor to report what had happened.

Police responded to the scene, completed a thorough search of the area for the suspect, and began a door-to-door canvass of the apartment complex. The victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital’s SANE unit where she was treated and released.

The updated suspect description is for a dark-complected black male, between 22 and 28 years old, 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall, and 175 to 180 pounds. He was bald and clean-shaven with light-colored eyes. He was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt and black shorts.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identity is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at (703) 838-4711.
