Alexandria City Manager Appoints Cindy Smith-Page as
Director of the Department of Real Estate Assessments

Alexandria City Manager Philip Sunderland has appointed Cindy Smith-Page as the Director of Alexandria’s Department of Real Estate Assessments, replacing Richard L. Sanderson, who is moving out of the area. Sanderson served as Director for 15 years. “The City is fortunate to have a new director with extensive experience in real estate assessments as well as detailed knowledge of Alexandria,” said Sunderland.

Smith-Page has been Deputy Director of Real Estate Assessments since 1988 and a City employee for 27 years, beginning as an appraiser trainee in 1975. She received her appraisal designation as a Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) in 1988 and became a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1992.

Smith-Page is currently President of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers and is Past President of the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Assessing Officers and is certified to teach the Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.

Born and raised in the City of Alexandria, Smith-Page has a BA from Bridgewater College and attended appraisal courses at American University, the University of Colorado, and at the Appraisal Institute in Chicago.

Smith-Page lives in Alexandria with her husband, Mac Page, who is the Assistant Director of Arlington County’s Department of Real Estate Assessments.
