Alexandria Police and Deputies Serve Up Fun at Red Lobster,
"Cops & Lobsters" to Benefit Special Olympics

Red Lobster, in conjunction with the Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Office of Sheriff, will host "Cops & Lobsters," an annual event in which local law enforcement officers serve as celebrity hosts and waiters during lunch and dinner. This event is part of a nationwide campaign to raise money for Special Olympics.

"Cops & Lobsters" will be held tomorrow, on Friday, May 3, at lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and again at dinner from 5:00 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Red Lobster restaurant at 555 South Van Dorn Street in Alexandria.

Police officers and deputy sheriffs will collect donation "tips" to benefit Special Olympics. Last year's event raised more than $4,000 in Alexandria and $1.2 million nationwide in 2001.

"Our officers look forward to 'Cops & Lobsters' as a fun way to raise money--and awareness--for the Special Olympics," says Captain Cleveland Spruill, this year's co-ordinator. "We encourage anyone with a big appetite and a big heart to come join us for a truly special cause."
