Alexandria Police Investigate the Stabbing and Robbery of a City Woman

Tonight, at approximately 8:15 p.m., the Alexandria Police Department responded to the 3300 block of Old Dominion Boulevard after receiving calls from residents in the neighborhood who reported that a woman had been attacked.

Investigators have determined that the victim, age 47, was in her yard when she was approached by an unknown suspect. He threatened her and then stabbed her in the upper body. After the assault, the suspect entered the victim’s home and stole her purse. The suspect then fled from the home and was last seen running in a southwest direction.

The victim suffered multiple wounds and was transported by ambulance to George Washington Hospital where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are searching the area with K-9 units and a Fairfax County police helicopter. The suspect is described as black male, 20-30 years old, 5'6", thin build and was wearing a light blue t-shirt, dark blue worker-style pants, sunglasses and a dark baseball cap.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at (703) 838-4711. For further details, please contact the Public Information Office.
