Alexandria’s City Council and School Board will sponsor the third annual Student Forum on Race and Culture on Thursday, Jan. 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Charles Houston Recreation Center, located at 905 Wythe St.

Student representatives from T.C. Williams High School; George Washington and Francis C. Hammond middle schools; Minnie Howard Ninth Grade Center, Secondary Training and Education Program; Saint Stephen’s and Saint Agnes School; Bishop Ireton and Episcopal high schools, planned and will execute the day’s program. Robert Kennedy, a senior at T.C. Williams High School, and Sara Rouhi, a senior at Bishop Ireton High School, will be program facilitators.
“Public and private school students are providing an opportunity for a significant segment of the City’s student population to be a part of Alexandria’s effort to foster positive racial and cultural relations,” said Elbert Ransom Jr., Special Assistant to City Manager Philip Sunderland.

The Forum is part of a series of school-wide programs and projects designed to foster better understanding and communication across racial and cultural lines.

Alexandria’s 11,167 school students represent 84 countries and speak more than 56 languages.

The media is invited to attend. For additional information, call Elbert Ransom Jr. at 703.838.4971.
