Wouldn’t it be nice this winter if your elderly or disabled neighbor knew that someone would be available to help shovel their sidewalk following a snow storm?

The City of Alexandria is asking for volunteers to help remove snow and ice from the driveways and walkways of elderly or infirm citizens. This act of kindness will reach out to those who are unable to maintain their sidewalks during winter storms. Unkempt walkways can become treacherous for both homeowner and passerby without proper care.

To volunteer, call Art Cole, Deputy Director of Operations, Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, at 703.838.4488. Give your name, phone number, address, and e-mail address (if applicable) to be added to a volunteer list. If you are elderly or disabled and need assistance with snow removal around your home, call the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services at 703.838.4488.
