Alexandria Police Investigate a Shooting

Tonight, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Alexandria Police responded to the Exxon Gas Station, located at 700 South Patrick Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered a 38-year-old male, Ashland Virginia resident, suffering from gun shot wounds. Investigation revealed that the victim was in the area dropping off his two daughters ages 10 and 5, when a black male exited a grey or silver van and began shooting at him. After being shot, the victim was able to cross the street to another gas station where he collapsed. Police and a medic unit were called to the scene and the victim was flown by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he remains in stable condition.

Officers and Detectives canvassed the area for potential witnesses. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
