Alexandria Police Release Security Photo of ATM Robbery Suspect


Over the weekend, Alexandria police responded to three robbery attempts at bank ATMs. Detectives have reviewed security tape and are now releasing a still from the video which shows the suspect police believe is responsible for these offenses.

The suspect is described as a white male with reddish hair. He is in his late 20s to early 30s, 5'7" to 5'11" tall with a stocky build. He was wearing jeans, a baseball cap, and a long coat. He fled in a light blue 1992 Nissan Maxima with Virginia license plates, YWJ-5315, which was reported stolen on December 4 in Prince William County.

In the Alexandria cases, the suspect approached the victim as the victim was making an ATM transaction. The suspect, armed with a sharp instrument, demanded money from the victims but did not obtain any. The three cases are:

• December 8 at 3:30 p.m. at the Provident bank in 200 block of South Van Dorn Street,
• December 8 at 3:35 p.m. at the Burke & Herbert bank in 2800 block of Duke Street, and
• December 9 at 2:00 at the First Union bank p.m. in the 300 block of North Washington Street.

Anyone knowing this suspect’s identity is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section at (703) 838-4711. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered by Crimesolvers for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest and indictment. Alexandria Crimesolvers can be reached at (703) 838-4858.
