City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for Veterans Day

City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be open on the observed Veterans Day holiday, Monday, November 12. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during this day, as well as on Sunday, November 11 (traditional holiday).

However, State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department will be closed on Monday, November 12.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, November 12 (there are no time parking restrictions on Sundays). All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Route 1 and Washington Street will be lifted on Monday, November 12.

City facilities, including government offices, libraries, and recreation centers, will be open on Monday, November 12. Those City facilities which are usually open on Sundays, including libraries, museums, and recreation centers, will be open on Sunday, November 11. There will be regular residential trash collection services.

City schools will be closed on Friday, November 9, and Monday, November 12.

DASH bus service will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Monday, November 12.
