ONLINE SURVEY LAUNCHED TO IDENTIFY
E-GOVERNMENT NEEDS AND INTERESTS

The City of Alexandria Information Technology Department has launched an on-line survey to identify citizens’ greatest areas of need and interest in electronic government (E-Gov). E-Gov, on the City’s web site http://ci.alexandria.va.us, provides a way for Alexandrians to conduct business with the City government electronically in addition to the traditional ways such as through the mail and visiting City Hall. E-Gov allows citizens to use the internet for such diverse services as payment of taxes, applying for a job, signing up to speak at City Council public hearings, or reserving a library book.

The online survey is anonymous and uses the University of Virginia survey suite software to receive and process the data. Citizens can respond to the survey by clicking on the City’s web site http://ci.alexandria.va.us Those who use one of the City’s libraries for internet access will also find a notice there requesting survey completion.
