Alexandria Police Search for Murder Suspect

Alexandria police are searching for a man wanted for a homicide in Arlington. The suspect, Mark Andrew Morton, was last seen in 2200 block of North Beauregard Street at approximately 12:05 p.m.

Officers observed the suspect on foot but were unable to apprehend him. Police officers are searching the area with assistance from K-9 units and a helicopter. There is a large police presence along the North Beauregard Street corridor, mainly from Seminary Road north to King Street.

Morton is described as a 24-year-old black male, 5-feet 11-inches to 6-feet tall and 140 to 155 pounds. He wears his hair in cornrows and was last seen wearing dark pants and a light blue shirt, possibly covered by a dark shirt.

Morton is wanted for the shooting death of 18-year-old Antonio Leftwich in Arlington over the weekend. Anyone who observes Morton should call 911 immediately.

Note: A photo of Morton is available by e-mail and on the City’s website.
