REGISTER FOR ALEXANDRIA WALK TO FIGHT BREAST CANCER

Registration is underway for the City of Alexandria’s Seventh Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27, 8:30 a.m., at Cameron Run Regional Park, 4001 Eisenhower Ave., in Alexandria.

The registration fee is $20 for adults, $10 for children and includes a commemorative t-shirt. Breast cancer survivors are encouraged to attend and will receive a pink survivor shirt. There are several ways to register: call the Alexandria Office on Women at 703.838.5030 for a registration form or pre-registration location information; pick up a brochure from Alexandria businesses; or download registration and pledge forms from the City’s web site at ci.alexandria.va.us.

Proceeds from The Walk will go to the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund, which provides free mammograms for Alexandria women who cannot otherwise afford them. All participants are asked to collect pledges for the fund. Persons and teams raising the most in pledges will be eligible for prizes.

More than $112,000 was raised at last year’s Walk and since its inception in 1995, at least 1,000 diagnostic procedures have been completed at Inova Alexandria Hospital.
