CITY OF ALEXANDRIA PLANS
COMMUNITY CANDLELIGHT MEMORIAL SERVICE

The City of Alexandria will hold a Community Candlelight Memorial Service on Thursday, Sept. 20, to honor the victims of last week’s terrorist attacks at the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. The candlelight service, open to the public, will be held at 7:30 pm on the Market Square Plaza.

The service will include speakers from a variety of faiths as well as Mayor Kerry J. Donley and Congressman Jim Moran. Sen. John Warner has also been invited to participate. Students from TC Williams High School will make a presentation showcasing the school’s diversity. Music will be provided by students from TC Williams High School.

The 300 block of King Street, the 100 block of N. Royal Street and a portion of the 100 block of N. Fairfax Street will be closed for the ceremony beginning at 6:30 pm.
