Bank Robbed in Alexandria,
Police Investigate Second Robbery in Three Days

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a bank robbery that occurred this morning at the Wachovia Bank located at 325 South Washington Street in Alexandria. There were no injuries.

Today, at 10:23 a.m., the suspect entered the bank and approached the teller counter. The suspect demanded money and the employee complied. The suspect then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was displayed.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark baseball cap, a grey shirt, and dark shorts. A further physical description may be available later.

Another Alexandria bank was robbed on Saturday morning. The Virginia Commerce Bank at 5140 Duke Street was robbed at 10 a.m., on September 15. In that case, the suspect entered the bank and approached the teller counter. The suspect passed a note demanding money and the victim complied. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. A weapon was implied but not seen. The suspect in this case is described as a black male, 25 to 35, 6 feet, 200 pounds and wearing a gray t-shirt and gray pants.
