Alexandria Police Investigate the Death of a Child


Detectives with the Alexandria Police Department are investigating the death of a 9-year-old boy. Today, at approximately 12:32 p.m., medics responded to an apartment building in the 300 block of South Reynolds Street for the report of an unconscious child. Medics arrived on the scene and attempted to resuscitate the child but were unsuccessful. He was transported to the Alexandria Hospital and pronounced dead by medical staff. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the specific cause of death.

Police will be conducting a comprehensive follow-up investigation and will be interviewing the child’s parents. Police are not releasing the names of the child nor his parents at this time.
