Police Identify Victims in Domestic Homicide-Suicide

Alexandria Police have identified the victims in last night’s double shooting. The 36-year-old female has been identified as Ramatu Hailu-Mitiku and the 35-year-old man has been identified as Amha Hailu-Mitiku. They were husband and wife.

Police had responded to 375 South Reynolds Street, the victims’ residence, on Tuesday, February 6, at 9:30 p.m., for the report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police discovered both deceased lying in the hallway on the eighth floor.

Investigation revealed that the couple had been arguing inside their apartment just before the shooting occurred. Mrs. Hailu-Mitiku had left the apartment and her husband followed her out into the hallway. Mr. Hailu-Mitiku shot his wife and then shot himself.
