CITY OF ALEXANDRIA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF SERVICES
FOR INAUGURATION HOLIDAY
City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Friday, January 19, in observance of the Presidential Inauguration. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during the holiday.
The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Friday, January 19, and Saturday, January 20. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Friday, January 19.
The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, January 20.
Residential trash and recycling collection services will not be affected by the holiday.
City schools will be open on Friday, January 19.
City recreation centers will operate as usual on Friday, January 19, and Saturday, January 20.
City libraries will be open on Friday, January 19, but closed on Saturday, January 20.
On Thursday, January 18, DASH bus service will begin its Pentagon service at 12 noon. DASH will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, January 19, and a regular Saturday schedule on Saturday, January 20.
State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be open on Friday, January 19.
