Alexandria Police Officer Upgraded Following Surgery
The Alexandria police officer who was shot today during a training exercise is now in serious condition following surgery at Washington Hospital Center. The four-year-veteran was participating in a Special Operations Team exercise at the firing range when the accident occurred.
Initial investigation indicates that another officer, also involved in the same exercise, discharged his weapon, a Glock 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, striking the victim officer. The injured officer suffered a single gunshot wound in the abdomen.
Both officers, whose names are being withheld at this time, are members of the Special Operations Team.
