Alexandria City Manager’s 2000 Annual Report Highlights Accomplishments
and Forecasts Major Challenges for City Government

Alexandria City Manager Philip Sunderland has issued the City’s 2000 Annual Report highlighting the major accomplishments of the Alexandria City Government during Fiscal Year 2000, which ended June 30.

The 28-page report focuses on the City’s significant accomplishments in Fiscal Year 2000 in the areas of neighborhoods, community development, public schools, traffic and transportation, public safety, environment and technology. It also addresses the City’s fiscal condition and identifies major challenges facing the City in Fiscal Year 2001.

The report includes an updated statistical snapshot of the City, detailing local demographic, housing, economic, budget, and tax information.

The Annual Report is being mailed to all households in the City. Copies are also available from the Office of Citizen Assistance in City Hall and at all branches of the
Alexandria Library. In addition, copies have been provided to the Alexandria City Public Schools, the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, and the Alexandria Economic Development Partnership for their distribution. The 2000 Annual Report will also be posted on the City’s Internet Web site (www.ci.alexandria.va.us).

Mr. Sunderland formally presented the 2000 Annual Report to City Council on September 27, and City Council will receive public comments on the report at its Saturday, November 18, public hearing.
