Alexandria Police Identify Victims in Apparent Homicide-Suicide

Detectives with the Alexandria Police Department have identified the two people found deceased inside a condominium yesterday in the 100 block of Roberts Lane. Initial investigation indicates that they were victims of a murder-suicide.

Alexandria police found the victims, Dennis Nicholson, a 48-year-old man, and Chloe Blackwell Nicholson, a 48-year-old woman, inside a residence on Wednesday, July 12, at approximately 11:08 a.m. The victims were husband and wife, and lived at that address.

The medical examiner conducted the autopsies this morning and determined that the victims died of gunshot wounds. Detectives believe that in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 8, Mr. Nicholson shot Mrs. Nicholson and then killed himself.

Police had responded to the residence yesterday morning to check on the welfare of the occupants after receiving a report from neighbors who had not seen them recently. Upon arrival, police forced entry into the residence and discovered the victims inside.
