City of Alexandria Announces Schedule of Services for Independence Day

City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during the holiday.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on both Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.

Residential trash and recycling collection services scheduled for Monday, July 3 will not be affected. Residential trash and recycling collection services scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, will occur on Wednesday, July 5, and collection services regularly scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, will occur on Thursday, July 6. Residential trash and recycling collection services regularly scheduled for Thursday, July 6, will occur on Friday, July 7.

On Tuesday, July 4, all recreation centers will be closed, except for Chinquapin Park Recreation Center, which will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
City libraries will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.

DASH bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Tuesday, July 4.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4.
