The Alexandria City Council invites the public to attend the City Council installation ceremony and reception on Monday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m., in the John C. Albohm Auditorium of T.C. Williams High School, located at 3330 King St. in Alexandria.

Clerk of Circuit Court Edward Semonian will administer the oath of office to Mayor Kerry J. Donley, William C. Cleveland, Claire M. Eberwein, William D. Euille, Redella S. Pepper, David G. Speck and Joyce Woodson.

The Alexandria City Council is composed of a Mayor, Vice Mayor and five Council Members who are elected at-large and serve a three-year term of office. The Mayor who is elected on a separate ballot, presides over City Council meetings and serves as the ceremonial head of City government. The City Council term begins July 1, 2000 and ends June 30, 2001.

Mayor Donley, members of City Council and Alexandria City Manager Philip Sunderland will make remarks. The ceremony will feature musical selections from the Alexandria City Employees Choir.

A combined color guard of the Alexandria Police, Fire and Sheriff departments will present and retire the colors.

The public is invited to the Council’s outdoor reception immediately following the ceremony featuring music from the Alexandria symphony.
