Alexandria Police Investigate a Fatal Motorcycle Accident

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic accident which occurred earlier this evening, at approximately 5:27 p.m. A man was killed while riding a motorcycle in a west side parking lot in the 1900 block of North Beauregard Street.

The victim, identified as Anthony Marks, was riding a 1995 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when he apparently lost control after hitting two curbs in the parking lot. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The victim, a 25-year-old Arlington County resident, was transported by helicopter to the Washington Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

The Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and officers have closed a portion of the parking lot while they conduct their investigation. Speed and lack of familiarity with the motorcycle are believed to be contributing factors in this accident.
